Joanetta Kinney’s journey with HHM Health began when De’Nea, her first child, was born in September 2009. At that time, they were under the care of Dr. Richard Daniel, a pediatrician whose compassionate bedside manner left a lasting impression on Joanetta. Though Dr. Daniel has since retired, Joanetta has stuck with HHM Health to be the sole provider of healthcare that her family receives.
Ms. Kinney’s initial decision to choose HHM Health as their primary healthcare center was influenced by her proximity to the Pineland location and the wonderful care they received from Dr. Daniel. “I fell in love with how Dr. Daniel treated my daughter,” says Ms. Kinney “He was so attentive and caring, and I knew I had to continue bringing my other children here.”
The family also praises Ms. Ashley, the pediatric assistant who worked alongside Dr. Daniel at the time, and Ms. Tillis, who is now a Nurse Practitioner at the Mesquite clinic. “We love Ms. Tillis,” Ms. Kinney shares. “She’s wonderful with my kids and makes every visit comfortable for them.”
One of the key reasons Joanetta’s family remains loyal to HHM Health is their flexibility and convenience of location. “They’re always able to fit us in when we need it, and I appreciate the separate sick room to prevent the spread of illness,” Ms. Kinney explains. “Plus, now that we live in Mesquite, the new location is even closer and easier for us to get to than the Pineland location.”
The family learned about the new Mesquite clinic through their staff members at the Pineland location. Ms. Kinney had been trying to schedule appointments to avoid traffic during the workweek and was delighted to hear about the new clinic’s opening, which is a lot closer to their home.
Ms. Kinney’s positive experience with HHM Health led her to refer family members as well. Her sister now brings her own son to HHM Health, further expanding the reach of quality healthcare in her family
Her daughter, De’Nea, 14, reflects on her own experience: “It’s a good doctor’s office. I recommend anyone to come here because they take their time to listen and take care of you. If there’s a problem, they try to fix it. They’re patient and attentive.”
Her younger sister, Ja’Leiyah, 10, shares her perspective: “I like it here, and I don’t like getting my blood drawn but it isn’t bad at HHM Health. I see Ms. Tillis, and she’s great—she makes jokes and gives good info about how I’m doing and growing. It never feels scary to go to the doctor.”
As HHM Health’s Mesquite clinic continues to grow, Ms. Kinney’s family’s story serves as a great example of the impact that personalized, compassionate, and attentive care can have on a community.
