Through a partnership with ColonoscopyAssist, HHM Health will be able to help patients 45+ years of age receive affordable colon cancer screening services.

What is Colon Cancer?

Colon cancer is a disease that happens when bad cells grow in the large intestine (colon) and form lumps called tumors. These tumors can spread and make a person very sick. 


One way to prevent colon cancer is by getting a colonoscopy. This is a test where a doctor looks inside the colon using a small camera on a thin, flexible tube. During the test, the doctor can find and remove small growths called polyps before they turn into cancer.

Why is a Colonoscopy Important?

  • It helps find cancer early
  • If colon cancer is found early, it is much easier to treat.
  • It removes polyps which are small bumps that can turn into cancer over time.
  • Providers recommend it at age 45, but some people may need it sooner if their family has a history of colon problems.

A colonoscopy is safe and can save lives. If you know an adult who is 45 or older, remind them to talk to their provide about getting one, but feel free to schedule a colonoscopy today.

It is recommended that everyone aged 45 and older undergo a colonoscopy every 3 to 10 years for optimal health.
